Skrunda Manor offers an insight into history

According to historical data, the Skrunda Manor was built in 1849 in the typical Classicism style of that time - a symmetrical, proportional, harmonious and generally simple building with facade columns, large six-leaf windows on the lower floor and small four-pane windows on the upper floors. Interestingly, the Skrunda Manor is known as the miniature copy of the Mežotne Palace, and there is a lot of similarity to see, it’s because the architect's handwriting actually is the same.
In history, Skrunda Manor was a hospital, once there was a pharmacy, and then for more than 60 years there was located Skrunda school and later a boarding house. In 1998, after the invasion of the roof, the manor was in an emergency condition. In 2005, the local Council decided to sell the estate at auction and in 2006 it was bought by new owners. Since then, the revival of Skrunda Manor began. Respecting the ancient heritage, an ambitious manor reconstruction was carried out, restoring the old charm of the building, combined with modern comfort options.
